and by the light of the desk lamp

i sat alone with my paper and crayons

trying to draw the things i saw in my head

and by the sound of the crickets

through windows of darkness

i tried to fit the moon in my mouth

in my mouth…

sometimes when i’m alone

and out of view of my own

i pretend i’m someone else

taking a look at myself

and i wonder what i’ll think then

and i hope i’ll be ok

and i finally reach the day
